Or-o-fa-cial My-o-fun-tion-al Therapist.
Quite a mouthful, right? (Pun totally intended.)
Just call me Niki.

Imagine a woman trying to be her best self. She’s thoughtful with her eating habits, exercises regularly and tries to be the best mom and wife that she can be. But, she lives with daily headaches, digestive high’s and low’s, acid reflux, facial muscle pain, tongue thrust, and every New Year’s resolution for the past 12 years has been to have better posture.

This is me. Life of the party, huh.

I REALLY wanted to find a solution. After over 20 years in dentistry (mostly as a hygienist)…Myofunctional Therapy fell into my lap, and I became OBCESSED with helping others find their solution too!
It is not about me though, it is all about you.

You’re the captain here. High fives and fist bumps to you for coming aboard. You know that you need to make a change. To find something that is missing to be the best version of yourself. You can see yourself Breathing better. Chewing better. Swallowing better. Free from sleep concerns, TMJ pain, and mis-aligned teeth in spite of (at least one round of) braces. Depending on your voyage, myofunctional therapy may provide the map to your treasured self.
Not only do I deliver individualized myofunctional therapy through a variety of facial exercises that work, but with a meticulous methods, success stories, and my heart filled support, I put you in the captain’s seat to experience a life-change that keeps on giving.
Aside from my personal health concerns that I have overcome, there is a little boy in my life that opened my “myo eyes.” I noticed years ago that something was being missed. At 6-7 years old, he was still drooling. He couldn’t go to sleep overs, because of night terrors. He was behind in school yet extremely bright. He always had bags under his eyes and he already had growth and developmental changes in the shape of his face, airway and forward head posture. I took class after class, read research articles and books, watched webinars and followed study groups like the Millennial’s follow social media. Once you see these orofacial myofunctional disorders, you can’t un-see it. It is EVERYWHERE and I whole heartedly want to help “spot the smoke before the fire erupts.”
Through my education and encouragement to seek answers, this little boy has a diagnosis of allergies, enlarged tonsils and adenoids, tongue tie, speech issues and most importantly - sleep apnea at 9 years old. Through methods by a multidisciplinary team, this young man is now living up to his genetic potential and working past these diagnosis's. His dedicated mom will be rewarded by watching her baby grow into a healthy man breathing well. Chewing well. Speaking well. Standing tall. This young man that it has rid him of stomach high's and lows, and he will likely prevent multiple rounds of orthodontic treatment and might have room for his wisdom teeth. He has the tools to lead a healthy future, year after year.
What would the best year of your life look like? What are your goals? I’d really love to help you too! Please call for a complimentary consultation to see if Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy will be the right fit for you.
